New Courses 2011-2012 School Year:
Introduction to DJing
Students with experience in English can now advance their skills through applied lessons in DJing. The course will include an introduction to basic techniques, such as mixing, scratching, and song selection, as well as exposure to formats and equipment options, including vinyl and computer setups. Students will also be exposed to recordings, videos, and articles about DJing in order to gain a sense of historical and social context, as well as greater music appreciation.
Filmmaking: Telling a Story, Camera in Hand
Kids Computer Club is excited to offer a new filmmaking course this semester, taught by Antone Israel, winner of the 2010 RTBF-Canvas Prize for Young Figurative Artists (2010 du prix Canvas/ RTBF pour les jeunes artistes figuratifs) for his piece El Tren. Mr. Israel was also recently featured as part of the exhibition <<Pas moi>> at galerie Arte Contemporanea.
The course will be offered on Wednesdays at 5:30. Screenwriting, film analysis, shooting and editing will be at the center of this workshop, where students will learn a whole new language: cinema, as well as its main tool, the camera. They will edit their work with Final Cut Pro. Students will also watch movie clips and analyse them in order to guide them as they write stories with sound and images.
An interview with Antone Israel from Le Soir’s Victoire Magazine can be read below (click to enlarge).
